Head of Ready to Operate CCUS

The company seeks a Head of Ready to Operate CCUS in Zug to lead the development and training of the Operations and Maintenance organization for future CO2 value chains and cement facilities.

This position is tasked with transforming Operations and Maintenance strategies to align with the unique trade-offs of running cement operations alongside a CO2 value chain. The role focuses on building a sustainable, safe, and efficient organization capable of managing the new facilities and maximizing revenue.

Responsibilities

• Design and structure the future Operations and Maintenance teams at both corporate and country levels.
• Establish standard operating procedures, tools, and training programs for facility operation and upkeep.
• Implement operations and maintenance management systems with necessary data integration.
• Define minimum design and operational requirements for the CO2 value chain and integrate Plant of the Future standards.
• Lead commissioning structures and teams to ensure flawless start-up and energization of new assets.
• Act as the design authority for Operations and Maintenance across CCUS projects.
• Support country CCUS teams in embedding operational strategies into local projects.
• Evaluate and promote digital tools to enhance plant operations.
• Draft maintenance support contracts and set vendor performance criteria.
• Oversee pre-start-up safety reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL audits, and test safety interlocks.
• Validate start-up certifications and provisional acceptance tests.
• Ensure reporting systems demonstrate compliance with environmental permits.
• Define continuous improvement structures using KPIs to capture lessons learned.
• Develop the Holcim CCUS academy and operator training simulators.
• Coach country teams to achieve high uptime and low costs for new facilities.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of Operations and Maintenance experience, preferably in gas plants.
• Proven track record in an Operations and Maintenance Management role, such as Plant Manager.
• Strong grasp of KPIs and their influence on EBITA.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Operations and Maintenance requirements.
• Expertise in gas processing, process safety, pressurized and cryogenic equipment, rotating machinery, and industrial maintenance strategies.
• BSc or MSc degree in a technical field.
• Approximately 15 years of experience in a plant or industrial setting.
• Fluent English communication skills.
