The company seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for CO2 compressor projects in carbon capture. The role focuses on technical execution, supplier coordination, and cross-functional team support in Zürich.
In this position, the engineer leads the technical delivery of CO2 compressors for carbon capture initiatives. The role acts as a key link for the wider team, handling project execution and ensuring alignment across different disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Develop work packages, draft service specifications, and prepare request for quotation documents.
- Lead technical meetings with suppliers, evaluate proposals, and finalize vendor selection.
- Manage the timeline to ensure components are delivered on schedule.
- Oversee conceptual and basic engineering phases, resolving technical disagreements as needed.
- Define and manage interfaces with civil, structural, construction, electrical, instrumentation, and plant layout teams.
- Integrate compressor systems into the overall plant design, focusing on component installation and piping.
- Review, comment on, and approve engineering documents from suppliers, then distribute them to stakeholders.
- Verify that all assigned lots meet regulatory standards.
- Provide remote support to construction and commissioning teams.
- Travel 10-20% of the time to supplier facilities or project sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with over five years of experience in power generation or turbo machinery.
- Deep knowledge of industrial plant processes, mechanical equipment, and system components.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office software.
- Ability to interpret and analyze Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Excellent coordination and negotiation abilities, with strong communication skills for stakeholders at all levels.
- A structured, precise, self-motivated, and positive work style.
- Fluent command of English.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with axial, centrifugal, or reciprocating industrial compressors.
- Working knowledge of the German language.
