Schweizerische Chemische Gesellschaft seeks an Import Logistics Specialist in Basel to manage inbound supply chain operations, ensuring reliable material flow and regulatory compliance.
This position is central to daily operations, guaranteeing the steady and dependable movement of incoming materials. By maintaining operational continuity and prioritizing safety and sustainability, the role directly supports customer satisfaction and overall business stability.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all incoming shipments arriving at the Swiss facility via various transport methods, such as containers and rail tank cars.
- Handle the processing, verification, and upkeep of shipping documentation and associated logistics data.
- Actively communicate with suppliers regarding shipment progress, any irregularities, discrepancies, or service quality issues.
- Administer external storage facilities, including third-party warehouse operations.
- Arrange and carry out the return of empty containers in partnership with logistics providers.
- Generate and oversee purchase orders for rail-related supplies and services.
- Liaise on the maintenance, repairs, and scheduled inspections of rail tank cars to keep them operational.
- Coordinate transport orders for pickups and inbound deliveries, including internal and external shuttle railcar movements.
- Manage import customs clearance procedures in cooperation with internal teams and external partners.
- Review and control invoices, specifically focusing on Goods Receipt and Invoice Receipt (GR/IR) accounts.
- Track, validate, and follow up on demurrage and detention charges.
- Ensure all inbound logistics activities adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Completed education or vocational training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Experience in inbound logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operations, ideally in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
- Familiarity with container logistics, rail transport, and customs processes.
- Confident working with ERP systems and standard MS Office applications.
- Fluent German is must.

- English language proficiency is an advantage.
