Intern - Data Science

Huntsman Advanced Materials seeks an Intern in Data Science for a 6-month onsite role in Basel, supporting the Technology Department's digital transformation and knowledge management efforts.

This six-month internship is based in Basel, Switzerland, and focuses on aiding the Technology Department within the Advanced Materials division. The position plays a key part in driving digital transformation and enhancing knowledge management initiatives across the team.

Responsibilities

• Process and evaluate historical experimental data to support data science projects.
• Create, manage, and improve data pipelines for the enterprise Generative AI Platform.
• Prototype and evaluate LLM-based architectures and agentic systems designed for large datasets.
• Work with a cross-functional group to convert chemistry and materials science challenges into computational solutions.
• Help automate manual workflows and reporting dashboards.
• Engage in agile development practices and participate in code reviews.
• Write documentation for data scripts, workflows, and technical reports.

Requirements

• A completed Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a Master’s program in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or statistics.
• Proficient programming abilities in Python.
• Fluent command of the English language.

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript.
• Understanding of LLMs, vector databases, and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure.
• Basic skills in web development frameworks and SQL.
• Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts.
• Background or interest in chemistry or materials science.
