Bachem seeks a Senior IT/OT Network & Infrastructure Engineer in Stein AG to lead digital manufacturing infrastructure and align site projects with global standards.
This position supports the company’s digital strategy and Industry 4.0 initiatives while enabling the expansion of production capacity at a new Sisslerfeld facility. The engineer serves as the central link between Global IT, local site teams, and project stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant, and modern infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Architect and manage network structures for the BSF site project, ensuring alignment with global IT/OT standards.
- Build segmented IT/OT environments, including DMZs, VLANs, and secure data flows, to support SCADA, PLC, DCS, MES, and shop-floor systems.
- Lead infrastructure coordination for the BSF project, acting as the main point of contact between site management, project teams, and Global IT.
- Ensure all project designs meet corporate standards through architecture reviews and approval processes.
- Integrate on-premise, hybrid, and cloud hosting platforms into comprehensive infrastructure solutions.
- Manage external partners, system integrators, and network vendors to guarantee service quality.
- Maintain compliance with GxP, data integrity rules, and cybersecurity frameworks such as IEC 62443 and ISO 27001, supporting audits and inspections.
- Transition to the operational owner of IT services post-go-live by establishing support models, runbooks, monitoring, escalation paths, and KPIs.
- Oversee the standardization, modernization, and lifecycle management of network assets.
Requirements
- Extensive background in designing enterprise and industrial network architectures within GxP-regulated settings.
- Strong practical skills in LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, and network security.
- Demonstrated experience in IT/OT integration, segmentation, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of GxP compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in IT service management, including incident and problem resolution processes.
- Fluent command of the English language.

- Proficiency in German is highly valued.
- Prior experience in regulated industries is considered an asset.
