Network Engineer

Stadler Rheintal AG seeks a Senior Network Engineer in Wallisellen, CH, to design and maintain secure, scalable network architectures for CBTC and Interlocking solutions, driving innovation and supporting global project teams.

The company is looking for a professional to help define the future of mobility by designing and maintaining the network infrastructure for its signaling systems. This position focuses on creating secure, reliable, and scalable communication frameworks while supporting international project deployments and technical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Define and update the reference architecture for network systems used in CBTC and Interlocking solutions, ensuring they remain secure, reliable, and scalable.
• Lead initiatives to improve wired and wireless networking, virtualization, automation, and security measures.
• Oversee system integration, testing, and validation processes to meet operational standards and performance goals.
• Work with global project teams to adapt and deploy reference architectures for specific customer needs.
• Provide expert technical support for network-related issues and operational challenges.
• Participate in evaluating suppliers, assessing new technologies, and selecting strategic vendors.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on wired networking (Layer 2 and Layer 3).
• Proven expertise in network troubleshooting, communication systems, and modern networking principles and technologies.
• Practical experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), firewalls, network management systems, and network configuration and administration.
• Fluent English proficiency.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with wireless networking technologies (Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G); experience in radio design and planning is a strong advantage.
• German language skills are considered a plus.
