Junior Credit Consultant

Vontobel Asset Management seeks a Senior Credit Consultant in Zürich to support Relationship Managers with complex mortgage and real estate financing for high-net-worth clients.

This position sits within the Real Estate Financing Solutions Center of Excellence, supporting the Private Clients Unit. The consultant partners with Relationship Managers to advise private clients and real estate companies on mortgages and financing. The role aims to enhance client advice quality, customer satisfaction, process efficiency, and sustainable credit quality.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Relationship Managers to advise high-net-worth private clients and real estate firms.
• Join Relationship Managers in complex client meetings to address demanding financing requests.
• Evaluate client needs, wealth status, and financing goals.
• Design and structure mortgage and real estate financing solutions for various property types.
• Provide guidance on mortgage strategies, product choices, term structures, and pricing.
• Structure complex financing transactions alongside Relationship Managers and Credit Management.
• Ensure financing applications align with the bank’s mortgage strategy and risk appetite.
• Review, optimize, or return incomplete applications that do not comply with internal policies.
• Conduct expert pre-assessment of financing applications, evaluating feasibility and dossier quality.
• Independently conduct, interpret, and validate hedonic property valuations.
• Assess affordability, loan-to-value ratios, creditworthiness, and collateral quality.
• Identify and analyze risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and perform quality assurance reviews of mortgage financing dossiers.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, credit guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and submit clear, comprehensive, and decision-ready financing applications to Credit Management.

Requirements

• Completed higher education in banking, finance, or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
• At least 7 years of professional experience in the Swiss mortgage and real estate financing market.
• Proven experience working with high-net-worth private clients in Switzerland and internationally.
• Strong expertise in client advisory, financial analysis, and structuring of complex mortgage financing solutions.
• Hands-on experience in independently conducting and interpreting hedonic property valuations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Swiss mortgage market, mortgage products, financing concepts, mortgage strategies, and pricing methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with Credit Management, Risk Management, or credit approval functions.
• Fluent English, French and Italian both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Additional qualifications in real estate financing, credit business, or risk management.
• Knowledge of additional financing solutions, such as Lombard lending.
• Affinity for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and willingness to embrace AI-enabled tools.
• Additional language skills, such as German, or other languages.
