(Junior) Sanction Advisory 100% (f/m/d)

The company seeks a (Junior) Sanction Advisory professional in Zürich to support the Global Sanctions Advisory Desk within the Compliance Department, handling sanctions-related client assessments and regulatory compliance tasks.

This position sits within the Global Sanctions Advisory Desk, a key component of the Financial Crime Compliance function at the Head Office. The role focuses on managing sanctions-related challenges and contributing to a diverse, professional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates clients with sanctions connections and performs materiality assessments to determine relevant risk factors.
  • Manages all aspects related to sanctioned parties (SDN) that have a relationship with the bank.
  • Acts as a central point of expertise for the team's daily operations.
  • Assists in applying sanctions laws, regulations, and specific measures across the Head Office and the wider Julius Bär Group.
  • Advises internal colleagues on implementing the Global Sanctions Policy and tracks legal and regulatory changes.
  • Collaborates with local Compliance units across Group affiliates to share knowledge on policy decisions, controls, and significant developments.
  • Engages with counterparties, authorities, and peers within the financial sector network.

Requirements

  • A university degree (Bachelor or Master) in Economics, Legal, Audit, or Finance, or another higher education qualification with strong career development, or a completed bank apprenticeship in the financial sector with corresponding further education.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in Compliance, Risk, Audit, or Legal, with experience and knowledge in Sanctions.
  • Fluent written and spoken language skills in English.
