The company seeks a Laboratory Manager to lead the high-voltage testing team at its Zürich-Altstetten facility, focusing on process efficiency, safety compliance, and team development.
This role involves directing the laboratory operations at the MICAFIL site in Zürich-Altstetten. The position aims to enhance the competitiveness of the Swiss branch and support global market expansion in the energy sector by driving innovative processes across three distinct laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Direct the laboratory staff, managing resources and fostering professional growth for a team of 15 employees, while serving as the primary contact for high-voltage testing at the Zürich-Altstetten location.
- Guarantee adherence to established safety and quality protocols, specifically IEC and IEEE standards.
- Evaluate and introduce streamlined production and business workflows to boost safety, quality, and overall productivity.
- Maintain high output levels by overseeing reliable high-voltage testing procedures, including AC, DC, impulse, and partial discharge tests.
- Partner with the team and Process Engineering to spot and adopt new technologies and best practices for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with planning, quality assurance, logistics, and other production departments to design and refine holistic processes.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of work instructions, regulations, and standards such as ISO, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators to measure success and provide regular reports to the operations manager.
- Act as a people manager to ensure all team members follow internal and external regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Hold a technical apprenticeship or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.
- Possess several years of leadership experience in high-voltage testing, insulation technology, or power engineering.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in high-voltage systems, generators, and automation systems.
- Be proficient in lean management, Six Sigma, and other process optimization techniques.
- Show a track record of successfully leading and motivating cross-functional teams.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities, a data-driven decision-making style, and a commitment to safety.
- Display excellent time management, communication, and organizational capabilities.
- Be fluent in both German and English.
