Manager - Data Flywheel Team (f/m/d)

Hexagon Robotics seeks a Manager to lead the Data Flywheel Team in Zürich. The role involves building the data strategy and infrastructure for humanoid robot AI models.

This position leads the Data Flywheel team at Hexagon Robotics, a division of Hexagon focused on developing humanoid robots for industrial use. The primary mission is to design and execute the strategy for creating foundational datasets for large-scale Vision-Language-Action models, overseeing multimodal data collection, curation, quality assurance, and cloud-scale storage.

Responsibilities

• Build and mentor a high-performing data organization focused on technical excellence and ownership.
• Manage the complete data lifecycle, from collection and annotation to quality control, governance, and storage in Azure.
• Define the roadmap for scalable, diverse training data in collaboration with research teams.
• Architect and maintain a robust Azure-based cloud platform for data ingestion, labeling, cataloging, versioning, and compliance.
• Establish clear processes, KPIs, and feedback loops to operationalize the data lifecycle across collection, training, and deployment.
• Serve as the central contact for data strategy, partnering closely with Product, Research, and Robotics teams.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience leading or managing technical teams in fast-paced environments.
• Five or more years of professional experience in data engineering, ML systems, cloud infrastructure, or related fields.
• An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated success in designing and scaling large-scale data pipelines, platforms, or cloud storage systems.
• Experience building or managing datasets for deep learning systems, preferably with multimodal data.
• Strong proficiency in Python, cloud data tooling, and modern data/ML engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure.
• Direct background in data flywheel architectures, data collection operations, or high-throughput cloud data platforms.
• Experience working within robotics ecosystems, such as ROS2.
