Master thesis / Internship in modelling of densified activated sludge in sequencing batch reactor (DAS-SBR)

Eawag offers a full-time internship or master thesis opportunity in Dübendorf to model densified activated sludge in sequencing batch reactors using Sumo software.

This position focuses on creating a detailed model for DAS-SBR systems within the Sumo environment. The goal is to enhance the understanding of biological and physical processes, ultimately providing a robust tool for process analysis, optimization, and future design improvements.

Responsibilities

• Construct a DAS-SBR model using the Sumo platform.
• Calibrate and validate the developed model against real-world datasets.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in a university program for the entire duration of the thesis or internship.
• Fluent proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Interest in advanced biological wastewater treatment technologies and process modelling.
• Strong capabilities in data analysis and programming.
• Prior experience with modelling in Sumo.
