Microsoft seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its MAI Superintelligence Team in Zürich to optimize generative AI training and inference on advanced GPU clusters.
This position supports the MAI Superintelligence Team, which develops capabilities for the personalized AI assistant, Copilot, as well as Bing, Edge, and generative AI research. The engineer will focus on benchmarking, profiling, debugging, and tuning the training and inference processes for generative AI models across large GPU clusters.
Responsibilities
- Create and optimize scalable software for pretraining on Nvidia GB200 72NVL CX8 and AMD MIxxx hardware architectures.
- Conduct performance benchmarks for GB200 and AMD MIxxx GPU clusters.
- Collect data and insights to shape the pretraining compute roadmap.
- Collaborate with model scientists to implement state-of-the-art tools and techniques.
- Drive architectural changes and influence the roadmap for relevant software and hardware components.
- Contribute to the development of AI models that power innovative products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with at least 4 years of technical engineering experience in coding.
- Experience with generative AI.
- Experience with distributed computing.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 8 years of technical engineering experience in coding.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with at least 6 years of technical engineering experience in coding.
- Experience in leading technical projects and supporting architectural decisions with data.
