Zühlke Group seeks a Mid-level Mobile Engineer in Bern to build high-quality native iOS and Android applications for regulated industries, requiring fluent German and strong Kotlin/Swift skills.

This position places you within interdisciplinary teams tasked with engineering sophisticated, long-lasting mobile solutions for both iOS and Android platforms that integrate seamlessly into complex client system landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative mobile applications that enhance client operations and deliver superior user experiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups to engineer complex apps and ensure their integration into existing client infrastructure.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of specific client domains and project specifications to guide development decisions.
  • Construct robust, maintainable, and user-focused solutions using native technologies (Kotlin for Android, Swift for iOS), prioritizing clean architecture, security, performance, and testability.
  • Evaluate project needs to determine whether native, cross-platform, or hybrid development strategies offer the best value.
  • Rapidly create prototypes alongside customers, product owners, designers, and engineers to refine optimal technical solutions.
  • Support project outcomes by mentoring team members on mobile development techniques and agile methodologies.

Requirements

  • A university degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three years of professional software development experience focused on mobile projects.
  • Proven expertise in Kotlin within the Android ecosystem and Swift within the iOS ecosystem.
  • Strong grasp of modern mobile architectural patterns and clean software engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and quality-centric engineering workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in agile, interdisciplinary team settings.
  • Business-fluent proficiency in German is mandatory.
  • Proficient command of the English language.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of cross-platform technology advantages, with practical experience in Flutter or Kotlin Multiplatform.
  • Prior experience in consulting roles, technical leadership, or coaching within client-facing projects.
