Nestlé Research in Lausanne seeks a Packaging Simulation Intern to model and test paper-based packaging materials, advancing sustainable packaging through simulation and lab work.
Based at the Institute of Packaging Sciences, this internship focuses on evaluating how paper-based materials seal to support sustainable packaging development. The intern will work alongside packaging scientists, simulation specialists, and lab teams, gaining practical experience and mentorship to launch their career.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory tests on material properties to produce accurate data that improves model precision.
- Create simulation methods and adjust model parameters based on experimental results and scientific insights.
- Build sophisticated numerical models to analyze the sealing behavior of paper-based packaging.
- Partner with researchers and lab staff to address technical hurdles in both testing and modeling tasks.
- Support sustainable packaging advancements by helping evaluate and validate new material types.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in materials science, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Practical experience with numerical modeling and finite element techniques.
- Familiarity with software or programming languages like Abaqus, Python, or Fortran.
- Fluent English communication skills suitable for scientific collaboration and teamwork.
