Operating within the Group Intellectual Property team in Bubendorf, this position plays a critical role in safeguarding the company's innovation-driven business model. The professional acts as a trusted advisor to scientists and business stakeholders, helping to shape innovation strategy while securing competitive advantages through robust intellectual property protection.
Responsibilities
- Partner with inventors and engineering teams to spot and harvest patentable ideas
- Perform searches to evaluate the patentability of new technologies
- Advise on the best strategies for securing intellectual property rights globally
- Coach inventors on documenting their creations and preparing detailed invention disclosures
- Handle the drafting, filing, and prosecution of patent applications to maintain international IP protection
- Oversee and direct external patent attorneys when necessary
- Manage freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches and analyze third-party rights
- Assess potential infringement risks and recommend mitigation measures
- Draft contractual clauses and provide guidance on various IP-related legal matters
Requirements
- Holding the qualification of a European Patent Attorney
- A robust scientific background in chemistry or a closely related field
- Demonstrated experience in managing patent prosecution processes
- Skill in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating intellectual property agreements
- Fluency in both English and German for effective communication
