The University Hospital of Zurich seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead interdisciplinary research in Gender Medicine, focusing on data analytics, clinical evidence, and health equity.
This position supports the Chair for Gender Medicine in advancing sex- and gender-sensitive healthcare through innovative research, clinical translation, and education. The fellow will drive an ambitious agenda at the intersection of population health, data science, and clinical evidence generation, contributing to international collaboration and scientific excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage a portfolio of interdisciplinary studies addressing gaps in sex- and gender-related health outcomes.
- Produce high-impact research on clinical evidence, global disease burdens, and strategies for promoting health equity.
- Construct and maintain large-scale, reproducible data pipelines for complex health datasets.
- Apply advanced quantitative techniques, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, causal inference, machine learning, NLP, and bibliometrics.
- Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed journals, policy briefs, conference presentations, and stakeholder reports.
- Lead efforts in securing competitive external funding to establish a sustainable research program.
- Coordinate collaborations across the University of Zurich, the hospital, and international partners in medicine, public health, and data science.
- Mentor and supervise doctoral, medical, and master's students.
- Participate in teaching activities related to Gender Medicine, public health, or data science.
- Promote open science practices, including transparent documentation, code sharing, and responsible data governance.
Requirements
- A PhD, MD-PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in medicine, epidemiology, public health, data science, or a related quantitative field.
- Postdoctoral research experience or a proven track record demonstrating readiness to lead independent projects.
- A strong publication record with first-author papers or preprints in relevant scientific areas.
- Proficiency in R and Python, along with experience in reproducible research workflows.
- Experience handling large, heterogeneous datasets, including clinical, registry, administrative, or global health data.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Nice to have
- Experience in grant writing, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, or team leadership.
- Proficiency in the German language.
