The Paul Scherrer Institut seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop zero-excess lithium metal sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries, focusing on optimization and collaborative research in Villigen.
This position is dedicated to the advancement of high-energy-density and safe all-solid-state battery technologies. The successful candidate will lead the development and optimization of zero-excess lithium metal sulfide systems, engaging in joint research initiatives with both industrial partners and academic institutions.
Responsibilities
- Create and refine zero-excess lithium metal sulfide all-solid-state batteries to enhance energy density and safety.
- Investigate current collector and interface engineering methods, such as thin-film modifications and protective interlayers, to boost lithium plating and stripping reversibility.
- Establish wet-slurry processing techniques for manufacturing sulfide-based composite cathodes and assembling multilayer pouch-cell batteries.
- Conduct thorough electrochemical testing, including cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, EIS, and measurements of critical current density and Coulombic efficiency.
- Disseminate research outcomes through publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Share findings at international conferences and project meetings as part of collaborative research efforts.
Requirements
- A PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated practical experience with lithium metal and sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries.
- Strong proficiency in assembling, testing, and analyzing coin- and pouch-type all-solid-state battery cells.
- Solid background in materials and electrochemical characterization techniques.
- A track record of scientific publications in battery or energy-storage research.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
