Eawag seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher in organic geochemistry in Dübendorf to study medieval farming's impact on modern landscapes through lipid biomarker analysis.
This position supports a project investigating how historical agricultural practices have influenced contemporary landscapes and biodiversity. The researcher will lead the lipid biomarker analysis, providing key evidence to validate other scientific records within the collaborative study.
Responsibilities
- Analyze faecal biomarkers to identify evidence of grazing, manuring, and human waste inputs.
- Corroborate animal sedaDNA findings with geochemical data.
- Utilize plant-specific biomarkers like miliacin and cannabinol to trace crop cultivation methods.
- Oversee and prioritize various academic tasks and deliverables.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication, present findings at conferences, and represent the team in collaborative meetings.
Requirements
- Possess a PhD in geosciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate fluent proficiency in English.
- Work collaboratively to build strong partnerships with project stakeholders.
