Process Quality Specialist (80-100%)

ABB seeks a Process Quality Specialist in Quartino, CH, to support quality strategy deployment for the Power Protection, Smart Power division. The role focuses on root cause analysis, quality improvement, and supplier non-conformity management, requiring a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and five years of quality experience.

This position supports the implementation of quality strategy for a local unit within ABB’s Power Protection, Smart Power division in Quartino, Switzerland. It focuses on fostering a quality culture, managing systems and tools, and building skilled teams to meet customer expectations and ensure sustainable operations.

Responsibilities

• Systematically analyze non-conformities to find root causes and log corrective actions in the Practical Problem Solving (PPS) tool to ensure resolution.
• Define containment, corrective, and preventive actions; lead Level 2 Quality Circles and escalate critical issues to Level 3 as needed.
• Help improve key quality indicators such as First Pass Yield, Supplier PPM, Customer DPU, and Cost of Poor Quality; track and close PPS cases on time.
• Manage supplier-related non-conformities and identify top issues with the Supplier Quality Manager to drive improvement efforts.
• Support Quality Technicians by spotting improvement opportunities to prevent defects and reduce production disruptions.
• Create new quality gates and refine existing ones to strengthen product quality and process control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or SSST in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in a quality role or equivalent position.
• Strong grasp of quality processes, including problem-solving methods and continuous improvement tools.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders across all levels.
• Proven ability to manage tasks efficiently in a dynamic manufacturing environment with frequent changes.
• Fluency in both English and Italian, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification is considered an advantage.
