Swiss TPH seeks a senior Project Leader with extensive financial audit expertise to oversee health sector development projects in Basel, ensuring rigorous financial control and team leadership.
This position sits within the Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH), an entity dedicated to consultancy, project management, training, and applied research in the field of international health. The role is based in Basel, Switzerland, and focuses on providing strong financial oversight and leadership for development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial appraisal and performance monitoring activities for health sector development projects.
- Oversee the implementation of health programs, with a specific focus on financial accounting, administration, and management standards.
- Provide leadership and financial expertise for Local Fund Agent (LFA) services under Global Fund mandates, including team oversight.
- Identify and help secure new projects from various donors.
- Analyze and review accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Negotiate and review project budgets.
- Assess internal controls and financial procedures, offering recommendations for process improvements.
- Examine financial statements, including income and expenditure reports, balance sheets, and cash reconciliation documents.
- Interpret and review audit reports to ensure adherence to financial standards.
- Create technical reports, persuasive documents, and oral presentations.
Requirements
- Hold a formal, recognized professional qualification in finance or accounting, such as ICMA, CPA, CMA, Chartered Accountant, CFA, or FEC.
- Possess at least 12 years of relevant experience in finance, controlling, or auditing within health sector development projects.
- Have a minimum of 10 years of management experience, ideally within the health sector.
- Demonstrate excellent proficiency in both English and French, for speaking and writing.
Nice to have
- A qualification in financial auditing or substantial experience in auditing and fraud detection.
- Prior work experience in Africa.
- Familiarity with Global Fund procedures and requirements.
- Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese.
- Experience in writing project proposals.
