Robotics Software Engineer (Path Planning & Field Robotics)

Responsibilities

  • Developing and improving our path planning and task-level motion pipeline
  • Making the software more robust, maintainable, and easier to use on-site
  • Improving system behavior under real-world constraints (imperfect scans, uneven walls, time pressure)
  • Strengthening the overall ROS2-based software architecture
  • Test and debug software on real robots in the lab and on construction sites
  • Work closely with control, ML, and hardware engineers to integrate new features
  • Support deployments and help diagnose system issues in the field
  • Contribute to tools and workflows that make the robot easier to operate by non-developers

Requirements

  • Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS2
  • Good understanding of motion planning, coordinate frames, and robot kinematics
  • Experience deploying and debugging software on real robots or hardware systems (not only in simulation)
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on startup environment and taking ownership of a subsystem
  • Fluent in English
  • Willing to work on-site with robots in industrial and construction-like environments
  • Valid driving license (Switzerland or EU)
  • Valid Swiss work permit or eligibility to work in Switzerland

Nice to have

  • Experience with path planning, trajectory generation, or task-level motion pipelines
  • Experience with mobile robots or manipulation systems
  • Familiarity with point clouds or 3D environment representations
  • Experience improving software robustness, tooling, and usability
  • German language skills
