Scientific Collaborator for Science Integration (80-100%)

Eawag seeks a Scientific Collaborator to foster interdisciplinary science integration within the NCCR CLIM+ consortium and the new CERESS Center in Bern.

This position focuses on strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration across various research teams and work packages. The primary objective is to coordinate science integration efforts within the NCCR CLIM+ consortium and to help establish interdisciplinarity within the newly founded CERESS Center.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in defining shared boundary concepts (e.g., resilience, risks, extreme events) to develop a common glossary.
  • Help create a joint conceptual framework or boundary object that addresses societal shifts toward resilience amid climate extremes.
  • Facilitate integrative activities such as workshops, training schools, retreats, meetings, and the Young Scholars Forum to build conducive boundary settings.
  • Attend site visits at partner institutions and participate in team meetings and workshops.

Requirements

  • PhD in social sciences, human geography, interdisciplinary environmental sciences, science and technology studies, sustainability transformations, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong interest in climate extremes, mitigation strategies, and adaptation measures.
  • Proven experience working within large interdisciplinary consortia and applying interdisciplinary methods, tools, and concepts.
  • Strong integrative abilities combined with high social and emotional intelligence.
