Postdoctoral Position in the Climate Extremes’ Storyline "Heat and Health"

ETH Zurich seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher for the NCCR CLIM+ 'Heat and Health' storyline, focusing on interdisciplinary climate extremes research in Switzerland.

This position is embedded within the NCCR CLIM+ National Center of Competence in Research, specifically supporting the 'Heat and Health' storyline. The role aims to bridge natural and social sciences to address climate extremes, requiring close collaboration with research groups at ETH Zurich and the University of Bern.

Responsibilities

• Co-create a strategic vision for a Swiss climate extreme storyline centered on heat and health.
• Synthesize cross-disciplinary findings from various work packages and institutions.
• Perform interdisciplinary research at the intersection of natural and social sciences and disseminate results through publications.
• Lead and encourage cross-cutting activities under the guidance of the storyline’s Lead Principal Investigators.
• Manage relationships with public and private stakeholders relevant to the project.
• Maintain regular communication with fellow postdocs, coordinators, and stakeholder engagement specialists.

Requirements

• A PhD in climate science, environmental science, environmental epidemiology, public health, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in analyzing the links between heat, health, climate extremes, and society.
• An integrative mindset with a strong inclination toward interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration.
• Familiarity with the Swiss stakeholder landscape concerning heat and health issues.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Flexibility to travel between ETH Zurich, the University of Bern, and other designated work locations.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in research coordination, science integration, policy development, or stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in German and/or French, both written and spoken.
