Senior Cloud Architect - Linux

Coopers Group AG is hiring a Senior Cloud Architect for a client in Zurich. The role focuses on designing Linux-based cloud platforms using KVM, OVN, and automation tools.

This position involves working with Swisscom in Zurich, contracted through Coopers Group AG. The architect will be responsible for building and maintaining a robust cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security through advanced virtualization and networking solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a cloud platform utilizing KVM, QEMU, and SDN technologies.
• Manage OVN and Open vSwitch to handle networking, routing, and tenant isolation.
• Implement infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines to automate provisioning and operations.
• Set up comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems, alongside incident and change management processes.
• Work closely with internal architecture and security teams, as well as external partners, to perform integration and failover testing.

Requirements

• An IT degree or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
• Deep expertise in Linux operating systems and system engineering.
• Proven track record with KVM, QEMU, libvirt, OVN, and Open vSwitch.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including L2/L3, routing, NAT, security protocols, and load balancing.
• Experience in private cloud or IaaS environments, emphasizing scalability and high availability.
• Proficiency in IaC and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash, along with CI/CD platforms like Git, GitLab, or GitHub.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK, and a focus on security.
• Fluent command of the English language.
