Senior Consultant - Technology Strategy & Transformation - Financial Services

Ernst & Young AG seeks a Senior Consultant in Zürich to lead technology and business transformation for financial services clients, focusing on data, modernization, and strategic delivery.

This position sits at the crossroads of business strategy, technology, and organizational change. The consultant partners with leading financial institutions to define and execute large-scale transformation programs, helping clients navigate complex shifts in banking, wealth management, and broader financial services through data-driven modernization and operating model redesign.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the execution of major business and technology transformation initiatives within the financial sector.
  • Lead workshops with senior leaders and experts to establish requirements, scope, target processes, and acceptance criteria.
  • Evaluate existing processes, data flows, and operating models to design future-state solutions.
  • Convert business needs into functional specifications, process designs, user stories, and other transformation artifacts.
  • Assist with data-centric projects, including source analysis, mapping, quality checks, reconciliation, testing, and defect tracking.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies, risks, and open issues across business, tech, testing, and operations teams.
  • Create executive reports, steering committee materials, and client presentations.
  • Support governance activities, readiness assessments, and implementation efforts to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Participate in proposal development, go-to-market efforts, and thought leadership within the Financial Services Consulting practice.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and foster an inclusive, high-performing team environment.

Requirements

  • A degree in Business Information Technology, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration with a strong technology focus, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six years in management consulting, business analysis, program delivery, technology transformation, or financial services change, ideally in Private Banking or Wealth Management.
  • Deep knowledge of banking processes, operating models, and transformation challenges, including core banking and data migration.
  • Proven ability to work with business and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and define practical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with data migration, including analysis, mapping, reconciliation, testing, and quality validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail, clear documentation, stakeholder management, communication, and workshop facilitation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in international, cross-functional, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset, capable of managing ambiguity in fast-paced environments.
  • Fluent English proficiency.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI-enabled tools, Generative AI use cases, or intelligent automation solutions.
  • Fluency in a language other than English.
