Novartis seeks a Senior Internal Auditor for Technology, Data & AI in Basel to audit digital risks, assess controls, and advise leadership on cybersecurity, cloud, and AI governance.
The company is looking for a specialist to join its Internal Audit function, focusing on the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and data. This position involves partnering with executive leaders to evaluate emerging risks in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity, thereby helping to shape secure and compliant digital transformation strategies across the global organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct audits centered on technology domains, including data management, AI systems, cloud environments, and broader digital risk factors.
- Evaluate existing controls and identify technology-related risks to pinpoint gaps, recurring themes, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Provide input for annual risk assessments and audit planning by highlighting new and emerging technology threats.
- Execute several audit engagements annually and offer specialized technical guidance to other audit teams when necessary.
- Investigate the root causes of control deficiencies and propose practical, business-aligned actions to improve risk management frameworks.
- Interact with stakeholders to present findings, engage in constructive dialogue, and agree on clear remediation steps.
- Drive continuous improvement within the Internal Audit department by applying technical expertise, curiosity, and independent critical thinking.
Requirements
- Extensive technical background in cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence, and data technologies.
- Capability to translate technical knowledge into risk assessment, control evaluation, governance, and assurance activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.
- Robust analytical capabilities to dissect complex issues and formulate practical solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities, including the capacity to build trust, challenge ideas constructively, and influence decisions through evidence-based discussions.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience in cybersecurity.
- Professional certifications in cloud technologies, auditing, information security, cybersecurity, or technology risk management.
- Proven expertise in cloud technologies, AI, data platforms, or cybersecurity, particularly with relevant industry certifications.
