Senior Market Risk Analyst (f/m/d)

The Senior Market Risk Analyst at Axpo Group in Baden, CH, analyzes market risk KPIs, reports on P&L, and supports IFRS reporting while shaping the future of energy markets.

This position centers on evaluating and communicating risk and profit-and-loss metrics, maintaining strong risk control procedures, and assisting with IFRS reporting. The role also plays a part in defining the trajectory of energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily evaluations of market risk KPIs and generate reports, primarily for Prop Trading.
• Assess trading portfolios for their risk characteristics and engage in discussions with front-office, management, and other risk teams.
• Maintain close collaboration with the Front office regarding market conditions and strategies.
• Enhance the organization's risk analytics framework, covering market and liquidity aspects, as well as Business Intelligence and reporting.
• Perform detailed analyses on specific topics upon request from the Head of Market Risk Management, Head RMV, Management Board, Group Functions, Audit, and others.

Requirements

• A university degree in finance, economics, or a related field with a strong quantitative or mathematical foundation.
• Proficiency in applied statistical and financial methods, including modeling.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial instruments such as futures, swaps, forwards, and options, along with their valuation.
• Prior experience in financial risk management.
• Background in the energy or commodity sector.
• Hands-on experience with PowerBI.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
• Experience interacting with front-office units and management within a trading environment.
• A structured approach to project management.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Additional professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or CQF.
• Experience with SQL, Python, or Dataiku.
• Proficiency in German.
