MET Group seeks a Senior LNG Market Risk Analyst in Baar, CH, to provide independent risk oversight and commercial support for its global LNG portfolio.
This position plays a vital role in supporting the company’s energy sector mission by delivering independent market risk oversight and commercial guidance for a worldwide LNG portfolio. The analyst ensures robust risk management while enabling strategic decision-making for traders and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Guide traders and commercial units on hedging approaches, portfolio optimization, valuation methods, and risk-reward balances.
- Oversee risk assessment and valuation for LNG portfolios that include FOB and DES contracts, regasification capacity, storage, shipping, and other structured agreements.
- Conduct quantitative analysis of LNG optionality, such as diversion rights, destination flexibility, shipping optimization, netback calculations, and cross-basin arbitrage.
- Assist in pricing, structuring, and approving new LNG deals, including medium- and long-term supply contracts.
- Build and maintain advanced valuation and risk models to track market exposures, sensitivities, stress scenarios, and overall portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with the Front Office to offer commercial challenge, independent analysis, and timely risk recommendations.
- Utilize quantitative tools and programming to automate analysis, enhance reporting, and improve risk management workflows.
- Work with trading systems and risk platforms to analyze positions, validate valuations, and strengthen risk reporting capabilities.
- Contribute to the evolution of the LNG risk framework, ensuring proper governance, valuation standards, and market risk controls.
Requirements
- 4–5+ years of experience in LNG Market Risk, LNG Trading, or LNG Portfolio Management.
- Deep understanding of global gas and LNG markets, including FOB/DES contracts, shipping, regasification, storage, and optionality.
- Experience with chartering economics, vessel optimization, netback calculations, and LNG portfolio optimization.
- Strong quantitative background with proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
