Power Analyst

MET Group seeks a Power Analyst in Baar, CH, to enhance power market analytics and support trading strategies through fundamental modeling and forecasting.

This position aims to strengthen the firm's power markets analytics function. It provides a pathway to a trading career within one to three years for candidates who demonstrate strong motivation and commercial insight.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the fundamental stack model for power markets across Europe.
• Track model inputs, outputs, and performance metrics to suggest necessary adjustments.
• Provide the power desk with short to mid-term fundamental forecasts and analytical support.
• Analyze market trends and correlations among energy commodities, including CO2, coal, gas, and electricity prices.
• Identify and propose profitable Clear Spark Spread (CSS) and Clear Dark Spread (CDS) trading opportunities.
• Develop fundamental scenarios using research and statistical analysis.
• Deepen understanding of fundamental power market dynamics, including supply and demand factors.
• Collaborate closely with traders, gas analysts, meteorologists, data engineers, and developers.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a Power Analyst or in energy trading/commodities.
• Proven experience in power market fundamental stack modeling.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• Strong research, analytical, and quantitative skills, including econometric and statistical modeling.
• Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
• Ability to explain complex concepts, translate market analyses into actionable strategies, and communicate them clearly.

• Coding skills in Python and SQL.
