Senior Project Engineering Manager Lausanne

Alstom seeks a Senior Project Engineering Manager in Villeneuve to lead technical coordination for Lausanne’s automated metro modernization, overseeing signalling and rolling stock integration.

This position provides critical technical leadership for a major Swiss infrastructure initiative focused on upgrading Lausanne’s fully automated m2 metro line. The manager will coordinate system integration across signalling and rolling stock domains, ensuring technical alignment and successful delivery of this complex brownfield project.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the main technical contact for the client.
• Oversee engineering governance for both CBTC signalling and rolling stock modernization.
• Maintain technical consistency and manage interfaces between all subsystems.
• Direct system integration efforts, including CBTC and onboard TCMS.
• Control requirements, configuration, and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Guide preliminary and detailed design phases.
• Balance technical performance with cost and schedule constraints.
• Verify performance assumptions and engineering calculations.
• Assist with homologation and certification activities.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate the engineering team.
• Apply best practices and transfer knowledge from past projects.
• Support the Project Manager in meeting overall project goals.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 10 years of experience in railway system engineering on international turnkey projects.
• Deep expertise in both CBTC signalling and rolling stock.
• Proven track record in complex system integration and brownfield environments.
• Strong knowledge of system engineering methodologies, such as MBSE.
• Understanding of railway safety standards and certification processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management, coordination, and communication skills.
• Fluency in both English and French.
• Broad understanding of the railway sector and operational constraints.
