Senior Quant Risk Modeller (all)

BKW Building Solutions AG seeks a Senior Quant Risk Modeller for a part-time role in Bern. The position focuses on developing quantitative risk and valuation models for energy and commodity markets, ensuring robust model governance and supporting strategic decision-making.

In this position, the successful candidate will advance quantitative risk and valuation models covering asset, trading, and sales portfolios, alongside broader Group risk initiatives. A significant portion of daily tasks involves creating stochastic power price models and applying quantitative methods to navigate complex energy and commodity market dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine calibration, backtesting, and benchmarking of models, prioritising transparency, robustness, and governance standards.
• Partner with traders, analysts, originators, and risk managers to deliver market-consistent valuation methods and risk assessments for intricate portfolio positions.
• Translate quantitative insights and risk analytics into clear, actionable reports for Risk Committees, senior leadership, and key stakeholders.
• Drive the development of scalable, maintainable modelling, data, and reporting solutions, contributing to the modernisation of the analytical technology stack.

Requirements

• Possess several years of professional experience in quantitative modelling, risk management, or commodity trading, specifically within energy markets.
• Demonstrate hands-on expertise in building and deploying risk, pricing, or valuation models within dynamic market conditions.
• Analyse complex power, gas, and commodity market dynamics in a structured manner that yields commercially relevant outcomes.
• Apply strong Python and SQL proficiency alongside contemporary analytical and software engineering methodologies to construct reliable quantitative solutions.
• Approach evolving technologies, processes, and market demands with a pragmatic, solution-driven attitude.
• Collaborate effectively across quantitative, commercial, and risk teams, communicating confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
