Senior R Developer & Analytics Application Engineer

Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior R Developer & Analytics Application Engineer in Zürich to modernize a critical GLM analytics application, focusing on GUI redesign and performance improvements.

The company is modernizing a business-critical analytics application used for Generalized Linear Models in mortality studies and pricing. The role focuses on redesigning the user interface to enhance usability, stability, and performance while ensuring compatibility with the existing analytics engine.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the current application architecture and source code to find opportunities for modernization and technical upgrades.
• Propose a sustainable technical strategy for the next-generation user interface.
• Rebuild the graphical user interface using modern, maintainable, and user-friendly technologies.
• Ensure the new frontend integrates seamlessly with the existing R-based analytical and calculation models.
• Enhance user experience, workflow efficiency, and overall application usability.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects to increase application robustness and reliability.
• Implement enhancements to analytical functionality and system performance as needed.
• Create technical documentation, installation guides, and deployment instructions.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and provide handover support for internal users and support teams.
• Collaborate closely with business users and stakeholders to deliver practical and effective solutions.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in R programming and the development of data-driven applications.
• Strong expertise in GUI development and modern web application technologies.
• Experience in data analytics, statistical modelling, and analytical software solutions.
• Solid knowledge of data visualization concepts and tools.
• Experience with software architecture, application modernization, and code refactoring.
• Ability to analyze existing systems and design scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style with a strong focus on quality.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Fluent in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern frontend technologies, ideally including R/Shiny, browser-based applications, or comparable frameworks.
• German is an advantage.
