Smart Sensors Specialist

Nestlé seeks a Senior Smart Sensors Specialist at its Deep Tech Center in Orbe, CH, to develop innovative sensor technologies for process control and consumer experiences.

Based at the Deep Tech Center, this position focuses on exploring and creating new sensor technologies to enhance process control, production quality, and consumer experiences. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams across research and development, businesses, markets, factories, and external partners to accelerate Nestlé’s innovation mission through cutting-edge technologies and shape the future of food at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of innovative sensor solutions to enhance process control, product quality, and consumer experiences.
• Drive test bench, pilot, and proof-of-concept activities to transform scientific ideas into scalable, real-world applications.
• Develop robust data acquisition and connectivity approaches for reliable measurement and smarter decision-making.
• Provide technical support to projects and stakeholders with effective, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Advance digitalization by generating high-quality datasets and applying sensor expertise to modeling and automation initiatives.
• Share knowledge through documentation, publications, and mentoring to strengthen capabilities across teams and projects.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in sensor development, measurement science, and hands-on experimental work.
• Knowledge of statistics, variability analysis, and metrology to assess performance, improve reliability, and support robust decision-making.
• Programming and data analysis skills with a high level of autonomy.
• Fluent communication in English.

• PhD research or operations experience.
