Hexagon Robotics seeks a Senior Software Application Architect in Zürich to lead the translation of system designs into robust, flexible implementations for humanoid robots.

As a key member of the robot software architecture team, this position is responsible for bridging the gap between high-level system design and practical code implementation. The architect ensures that the software structure remains clean, extensible, and low-coupling while balancing technical complexity with project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Transform defined software architecture and design specifications into flexible, maintainable software components.
  • Work closely with implementation teams to clearly communicate architecture principles and design standards.
  • Maintain clean, simple, and low-dependency code structures throughout the entire development lifecycle.
  • Partner with Build System, DevOps, industrialization, and QA groups to identify requirements for a scalable and extensible architecture.
  • Monitor and manage interfaces between subsystems to minimize coupling.
  • Balance implementation complexity against defined project timelines.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of industrial software architectures, design paradigms, and modern technology standards.
  • Approximately 10 years of software engineering experience, preferably within industrial or embedded contexts.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing hard real-time systems.
  • Solid hands-on experience with robotics software stacks, including ROS, motion control, and sensor pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and Bash.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotics workflows, ML-ready data architectures, functional safety, and cyber security.
