CERN seeks a Senior Software Architect to lead the evolution of its Service Management platform (ServiceNow) in Geneva. The role involves driving technical solutions, collaborating with business experts, and ensuring platform compliance and optimization.
The company is looking for a senior professional to steer the development and modernization of its Service Management platform, which relies on ServiceNow. This position focuses on aligning the platform's capabilities with evolving business requirements and leveraging updates from the service provider to enhance functionality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and propose technical innovations, such as AI-driven automation, by tracking new releases and announcements from the ServiceNow provider.
- Engage frequently with business process specialists to gather and understand operational needs.
- Develop and update a functional development roadmap alongside providers, business stakeholders, and the lead developer, including involvement in prototype creation.
- Support and, when necessary, substitute the lead developer in managing development tasks.
- Oversee and assist with development activities to ensure optimal performance, platform health, and adherence to security standards and service management best practices.
Requirements
- Hold a Master's degree or possess equivalent practical experience in Computing or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate substantial background in configuring and developing Service Management platforms, with a preference for ServiceNow expertise.
- Show proven capability in designing solutions on PaaS environments.
- Possess deep understanding of scripting languages, web services, software development methodologies, and lifecycle management concepts.
- Have experience working with database structures and security frameworks.
- Apply architectural and design principles to ICT systems, starting with requirements analysis.
- Understand the integration, refactoring, and porting of existing software to build operational services through incremental and logical component integration.
- Identify and evaluate emerging ICT technologies for potential adoption.
- Develop application software.
- Communicate fluently in English and demonstrate a willingness to learn French.
Nice to have
- Holding an ITIL certification is considered beneficial.
- Familiarity with Service Management methodologies, particularly the ITIL framework, is viewed as a positive attribute.
