Sr Scientist Biotherapeutics RD

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Scientist in Biotherapeutics R&D for an onsite role in Schaffhausen, CH. The position involves analytical support for parenteral fill-and-finish lines and drug product development, with a focus on GMP-compliant assay development, process innovation, and real-time release strategies.

This role supports the development and manufacturing of biotherapeutic drug products by providing analytical expertise for fill-and-finish operations and R&D. It involves advancing new analytical methods, implementing technologies in regulated environments, and contributing to strategic initiatives that improve quality and efficiency while maintaining a customer-focused, innovative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of new product introductions and process improvements in clinical drug manufacturing.
• Plan, execute, and document GMP-compliant analytical testing using various bioanalytical methods.
• Support innovation in process analytical technologies, from initial concept to pilot implementation in manufacturing for large molecule therapies.
• Design, develop, and validate new analytical assays under GMP, including data review and testing.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders in analytical development, process development, quality, and manufacturing.
• Understand and respond to the needs and timelines of local and global customers.
• Advance the real-time release and integrated quality strategy for large molecule drug products.
• Contribute to a team-oriented environment, respecting diversity and inclusion in all interactions.
• Promote a 'right first time' approach and remain open to innovative solutions.

Requirements

• PhD or M.S. in life sciences, (bio-)engineering, analytical sciences, or pharmaceutical sciences, with relevant work experience.
• Proven experience in analytical development or engineering science.
• Familiarity with fill-and-finish manufacturing environments.
• Self-motivated problem solver committed to achieving shared goals and challenging existing practices.
• Demonstrated ability to influence across levels and improve productivity and business outcomes.
• Team-oriented individual with scientific curiosity and a willingness to go beyond standard expectations.
• Track record of independent, cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with large molecule-based assays in a pharmaceutical or other GMP-regulated setting.
