Hypoguide AG seeks a Staff Frontend Engineer in Zurich to lead frontend architecture for its Real Estate vertical, combining hands-on development with technical leadership and mentorship.
This position serves as a hands-on technical leader within a product team, balancing direct contribution to product delivery with broader staff-level responsibilities. The engineer will shape the frontend architecture for major portals, create shared solutions, and drive technical strategy across the Real Estate vertical with significant company-wide impact.
Responsibilities
- Define and improve service level agreements and objectives for the Real Estate frontend architecture.
- Design, build, and maintain shared frontend libraries, components, and tooling for internal use.
- Coordinate multi-system refactors and migrations, working closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for frontend-related topics across different teams and locations.
- Mentor and coach other engineers through structured sessions, pairing, and constructive feedback.
- Foster a healthy feedback culture and help the team navigate difficult conversations effectively.
- Innovate, design, implement, and deploy frontend engineering solutions for Real Estate products.
- Own the end-to-end technical vision for key user journeys on platforms like Homegate and Immoscout24.
- Lead cross-team initiatives, including shared design system improvements and performance budgeting.
- Collaborate with DevX to co-develop engineering blueprints and health scorecards.
- Evaluate, prototype, and introduce new frontend technologies and approaches.
- Manage and evolve the Frontend ADR process to ensure technical decisions are documented and implemented.
- Guide and review the work of other engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and informal coaching.
- Help the team integrate AI and large language models into their engineering workflows.
- Promote high-quality engineering practices, including testing, monitoring, and security.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience with Vue.js or similar frameworks.
- Proven track record of implementing and maintaining automated frontend testing.
- Solid hands-on experience building production applications with Vue 3.
- Strong experience building and evolving large-scale frontend applications in modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Proven track record of technical leadership: leading complex initiatives and aligning stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of modern CI/CD for frontend, including automated release strategies and feature flagging.
- Demonstrated experience creating and driving adoption of shared frontend solutions.
- Experience influencing and supporting multiple teams or a whole product area.
- Excellent English communication skills, spoken and written.
Nice to have
- Significant professional experience in software development including time in senior/lead roles.
- Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js, React, or similar).
- Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and SEO considerations for large user-facing sites.
- Prior working experience with APIs and microservices and how frontend apps best integrate with them.
- Prior working experience with cloud service providers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with server-side rendering / hybrid rendering patterns and edge / CDN optimisation.
- Experience integrating frontends with AWS Lambda.
