Staff Frontend Engineer (f|m|d) | (80-100%) | Hybrid working model | Zurich

SMG Swiss Marketplace Group AG seeks a Staff Frontend Engineer in Zurich to lead frontend architecture and engineering excellence across its Real Estate vertical in a hybrid role.

This position serves as a hands-on technical leader with significant company-wide impact within the Real Estate vertical. The engineer will split their time roughly evenly between delivering product features and fulfilling staff-level responsibilities, such as shaping the frontend architecture that powers the company's portals and driving strategic alignment across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical roadmap for frontend development across various teams and ensure stakeholder alignment.
• Connect frontend strategy to business outcomes to influence investment decisions and engineering priorities.
• Champion engineering excellence and guide the evolution of the Real Estate frontend architecture.
• Design, build, and maintain shared frontend libraries, components, and tooling for internal use.
• Manage complex multi-system refactors and migrations, including framework upgrades.
• Mentor and coach engineers through structured feedback, pairing sessions, and guidance.
• Innovate, design, implement, and deploy frontend solutions from initial discovery to production.
• Own the end-to-end technical vision for key user journeys, prioritizing performance, accessibility, UX quality, and reliability.
• Lead cross-team initiatives such as improving the shared design system and establishing performance budgets.
• Evaluate, prototype, and introduce new frontend technologies and methodologies.
• Help teams integrate AI and large language models into their engineering workflows.
• Promote a culture of high-quality engineering, including rigorous testing, monitoring, and security practices.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience with Vue.js or comparable frameworks.
• Demonstrated success in implementing and maintaining automated frontend testing.
• Extensive experience building and maintaining large-scale frontend applications using modern JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Proven track record of senior technical leadership in a Staff, Lead, or equivalent capacity.
• Deep knowledge of modern CI/CD pipelines for frontend, including automated release strategies and feature flagging.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Significant professional experience in software development, including time in senior or lead roles.
• Solid hands-on experience building production applications with Vue 3.
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, and SEO for large user-facing sites.
• Prior experience working with APIs and microservices.
• Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience integrating frontends with AWS Lambda.
