System Engineer

Academic Work Switzerland SA seeks a Junior System Engineer in Lausanne to manage Level 3 support and automate Microsoft Cloud infrastructure for a team of 1,700 devices.

This position connects complex technical challenges with user satisfaction within a specialized End User Compute group. The engineer will maintain high availability for a standardized environment of 1,700 machines, focusing on advanced troubleshooting and the continuous improvement of the Microsoft Cloud workplace infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Resolve escalated Level 3 incidents originating from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams.
• Conduct root cause analysis by examining logs and crash dump data.
• Automate routine administrative tasks and infrastructure maintenance using PowerShell.
• Deploy automated patches and ensure devices remain compliant with security standards.
• Develop training materials, including tip sheets and short video recordings.
• Deliver training sessions to staff on productivity tools and service standards.
• Write technical procedures and share knowledge with the broader support team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline, or current student status.
• Strong understanding of the ITIL framework.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 and basic familiarity with endpoint security solutions.
• Working knowledge of modern workplace technologies such as Entra ID, Autopilot, and Intune.
• Advanced English proficiency at the C1 level.
• A clean criminal record.
• Personal traits including responsibility, goal orientation, stress tolerance, and social skills.

Nice to have

• Good command of French and/or German.
• Experience writing PowerShell scripts for automation purposes.
• Basic understanding of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
