System Engineer / System Owner for Data Historian & Rotronic Monitoring System

The company seeks a System Engineer to manage and maintain AVEVA PI and Rotronic Monitoring Systems at its Basel and Kaiseraugst sites. The role requires strong technical expertise in PI interfaces, PLC controls, and validation within a GxP environment.

This position serves as the System Owner for the AVEVA Plant Information (PI) and Rotronic Monitoring Systems (RMS) infrastructure. The professional will be responsible for the ongoing support, maintenance, and technical leadership of these critical monitoring platforms across the Basel and Kaiseraugst facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and perform routine maintenance for the AVEVA PI and Rotronic Monitoring Systems at the Basel and Kaiseraugst sites.
• Assume full responsibility as the System Owner for both the PI and RMS platforms.
• Draft, review, and maintain all necessary validation documentation to ensure compliance.
• Oversee the management of incidents, problems, and change requests within the system environment.
• Execute service management protocols and handle deviation management procedures.
• Lead or actively contribute to various technical projects.
• Coordinate and manage internal and external audit and inspection activities.
• Develop and implement interfaces to connect production equipment with the PI system.
• Integrate production machinery into the production domain using Active Directory.

Requirements

• Hold a completed vocational training, technician certification, or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Automation, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrate extensive proficiency with the AVEVA PI platform.
• Possess advanced skills in configuring PI interfaces and the overall PI system; PI certification is advantageous.
• Show practical experience working with PLC controls and systems, particularly Siemens S7.
• Have hands-on experience in Computerized System Validation and IT Qualification processes.
• Be familiar with pharmaceutical production environments and GxP regulations.
• Display prior experience in Project Management.
• Understand Active Directory concepts and operations.
• Exhibit strong matrix leadership capabilities.
• Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
• Fluently speak and write in both German and English.

Nice to have

• Possess knowledge of network technology.
• Have familiarity with the Rotronic Monitoring System (RMS).
• Show experience with virtualization solutions, specifically VMware.
• Demonstrate experience with backup and restore applications, such as Acronis.
