Application Engineer - Spherical Plain Bearings (Aerospace/Railway/Industry)

Gramian, a Swiss industrial engineering company, seeks a Senior Application Engineer for spherical plain bearings in aerospace, railway, and industrial sectors. The role involves technical support, project coordination, and product validation from production in Delémont, CH.

The role is part of Gramian’s production department, focusing on designing and managing spherical plain bearing projects according to customer needs. It supports technical development and application across aerospace, railway, and industrial manufacturing, with an emphasis on precision engineering and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer applications and suggest technical solutions to ensure product performance.
• Support Sales and Product Management with technical guidance on spherical plain bearing design and use.
• Assist with cost analysis, customer service, quality assurance, production, and new application evaluations.
• Collaborate with customers to resolve technical and application-related issues.
• Create and present technical materials alongside Sales Engineers for key accounts.
• Serve as a technical advisor on product design, application problems, service issues, quality deviations, and material substitutions.
• Verify that drawings and process documentation meet technical and customer standards.
• Establish testing requirements, test plans, and validation procedures for bearings.
• Analyze test outcomes and report them to customers to aid product approval.
• Approve new product designs and release them for manufacturing.
• Manage projects internally and externally, acting as a technical liaison between customers, engineering, and management.
• Travel occasionally for customer visits, estimated at 10–20% of time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in bearing design and applications.
• Solid grasp of mechanical engineering principles, technical drawings, and product validation.
• Proven experience in providing technical support to customers or internal sales teams.
• Fluent English skills in both writing and speaking.
• Experience in aerospace, aeronautics, railway, or industrial manufacturing industries.
