Alstom seeks a Brake System Engineer in Switzerland to lead service engineering, ensuring safety and performance of braking systems through design, validation, and fleet support.
This full-time position focuses on Service Engineering for braking systems, based in Villeneuve or Zurich. The primary objective is to guarantee that braking solutions adhere to rigorous standards for safety, reliability, maintainability, and performance during modernization and service initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Design For Quality (DFQ) lifecycle, covering requirements gathering, system architecture, detailed design, verification, and validation.
- Participate in bid and tender stages by proposing braking solutions tailored to client needs and conducting technical evaluations.
- Create and validate brake system concepts while ensuring alignment with railway regulations and internal Alstom standards.
- Coordinate with other subsystems to manage technical interfaces effectively.
- Address in-service fleet issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement measures.
- Offer specialized knowledge to enhance the reliability and operational performance of braking systems.
- Establish and carry out validation and testing plans, including laboratory, static, and dynamic assessments.
- Assist with on-site commissioning and troubleshooting tasks.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including those handling TCMS, bogies, traction, and safety systems.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Railway Engineering.
- Demonstrated background in brake systems engineering or related railway subsystems.
- Deep understanding of Design For Quality (DFQ) processes throughout the product lifecycle.
- Familiarity with railway braking technologies (pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, dynamic) and relevant standards such as EN, UIC, and safety regulations.
- Hands-on experience in bidding, system design, validation, and commissioning.
- Fluent command of English.
- Professional proficiency in French and/or German.
