Control Engineer

Ivy Partners Schweiz AG seeks a Control Engineer in Zürich to develop control software for traction converters. The role requires expertise in closed-loop control, real-time programming, and IEC 61131-3.

The company is a Swiss consultancy helping clients with strategic, technological, and organizational challenges. In this position, you will build the application layer for control software used in traction converters for customer projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of control software for traction converters, starting from defining requirements to releasing the final system.
• Produce and maintain software documentation that meets specific standards and homologation requirements.
• Conduct testing and debugging in environments like real-time simulators and labs, while assisting customers during vehicle commissioning and homologation.
• Offer technical guidance to colleagues, other teams, and clients throughout project phases, testing, and service.
• Collaborate with peers to align on technical solutions, aiming to increase software reuse, reduce errors, and speed up standardization.

Requirements

• A university degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of four years of hands-on experience in software development for closed-loop control, signal processing, algorithms, and real-time programming.
• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 languages (CODESYS) and Matlab Simulink.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as SVN and Git.
• Deep knowledge of converter control, power electronics, or experience within the automotive and railway sectors.
• Experience working with communication protocols and field buses like CAN, TRDP, J1939, and MVB.
• Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of software development process standards such as EN 50657, EN 50128, or ISO 26262.
• Ability to communicate in German.
