Liom seeks a Senior Data Engineer to architect a scalable Google Cloud data platform. This hands-on role requires strong Python skills and a DevOps mindset to support the company's rapid growth in health-tech.
As Liom prepares to significantly expand its data acquisition capabilities, this position is critical for building a new, scalable data platform on Google Cloud. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced startup setting, translating business requirements into robust technical architectures while ensuring data quality and accessibility for downstream scientific and product use.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of Liom’s next-generation data infrastructure on Google Cloud.
- Establish and maintain standards for data lineage, traceability, model evaluation, pipeline management, and automated quality controls.
- Collaborate with data science, product, and laboratory teams to ensure data integrity and usability.
- Communicate technical trade-offs and architectural decisions to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
- Address emerging requirements for handling unstructured data from sales, operations, and business units.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional experience delivering business value through data engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python as the primary engineering language.
- A DevOps-oriented approach that prioritizes security, system reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn quickly within a dynamic startup environment.
- A collaborative spirit that emphasizes clear communication and shared team ownership.
Nice to have
- Practical experience with serverless technologies such as Cloud Run or Cloud Functions.
- Knowledge of modern CI/CD practices, including GitHub Actions.
- Background in data governance, schema evolution, or ML-ops workflows.
- Prior exposure to health-tech, regulated data environments, or scientific computing.
