Orange Business Digital Switzerland SA seeks a Senior Data Platform Architect in Meyrin, CH, to lead the design and deployment of a Modern Data Platform. The role focuses on architectural guidance for Azure-based data solutions, including Databricks and Microsoft Fabric, with a hybrid work model.
This role centers on leading the architectural deployment of a Modern Data Platform, as defined in a prior study phase. It involves guiding the migration of on-premise data products and the existing data warehouse, with a focus on defining blueprints, standards, and guardrails rather than direct implementation. The candidate will collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure architectural consistency, high-quality delivery, and long-term scalability.
Responsibilities
- Offer architectural direction to the Cloud team for deploying and configuring platform workloads in Azure.
- Establish guidelines to ensure platform components follow the client’s architectural principles.
- Create architectural blueprints for Databricks (DBX), Microsoft Fabric, and data-modeling approaches to support Proof-of-Value projects.
- Design recommended CI/CD templates and best-practice engineering workflows.
- Guide testing and validation methods for data pipelines aligned with CI/CD standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to set practical architecture standards for DBX and CI/CD.
- Ensure engineering teams follow architectural guidelines and platform principles.
- Assist teams in resolving issues stemming from architectural choices.
- Propose governance principles for data products to maintain consistency and clarity across teams.
- Develop the architectural plan for integrating Databricks (DBX) with the Collibra data catalog.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Azure platform services, including data, compute, and security.
- Capability to design architectures using Databricks (DBX) and lakehouse concepts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong grasp of CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience in creating cloud-native data engineering guidelines and standards.
- Solid foundation in data architecture, data modeling, and platform design.
- Deep knowledge of architectural best practices and security-by-design principles.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools like Collibra.
- Experience with data-product-oriented architecture approaches.
- Ability to work effectively with subject matter experts and technical leads in a guidance-focused capacity.
