Data Platform Engineer

Swisscom SA seeks a Data Platform Engineer in Bern for a hybrid mid-level role. The position focuses on platform operations, automation, data engineering, and integration within a collaborative environment.

This position blends hands-on production support with the ongoing improvement of data flows, automation, and system architecture. The successful candidate will navigate technical dependencies across the entire process to build traceable, sustainable solutions while leveraging modern tools in a team-oriented setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the reliability of the data platform through ongoing operations and maintenance.
• Create and implement solutions spanning operations, automation, data engineering, and system integration.
• Streamline and automate infrastructure, setup, release, and operational procedures.
• Provide production-level support for troubleshooting, stabilization, migrations, handovers, and hypercare phases.
• Advance CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, alerting mechanisms, and runbook documentation.

Requirements

• Hold a university degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
• Possess several years of professional experience in platform operations, automation, data engineering, and integration.
• Demonstrate strong proficiency with PostgreSQL, Python, and Kafka.
• Show solid experience managing ETL/ELT pipelines, incremental processing, data validation, deployment, version control, and production monitoring, logging, alerting, and runbooks.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in the German language.
