Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Director, Global Clinical Physician to lead clinical trial oversight and strategy within Clinical Development. The role involves medical accountability, protocol development, safety assessment, and collaboration across global teams in a hybrid work model.

The Global Clinical Physician role is embedded within Clinical Development, a global organization focused on designing and executing drug development programs effectively. This position ensures medical oversight and strategic input across clinical trials from Phase 1 to Phase 3.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical and scientific leadership for clinical trials, ensuring accountability and oversight throughout development phases.
  • Manages clinical studies across internal and external teams, coordinating matrix responsibilities.
  • Oversees Phase 1 to Phase 3 trials, making key decisions on study execution and medical strategy.
  • Offers medical expertise to cross-functional Bristol Myers Squibb teams and contributes to high-performing Study Delivery and Clinical Development Teams.
  • Reviews trial data medically, including eligibility criteria and safety-related serious adverse events.
  • Collaborates with Global Clinical Scientists on site interactions, safety education, and safety narrative development.
  • Supports protocol development by contributing medical insights on inclusion/exclusion criteria and safety considerations.
  • Ensures compliance with GCP and regulatory standards, maintaining required training.
  • Designs clinical plans and protocols with the Global Clinical Development Lead, aligning with regulatory and disease strategy goals.
  • Leads benefit/risk analysis for clinical development protocols in matrix teams.
  • Partners with Global Clinical Scientists to support study execution, including site activation, enrollment, and protocol deviation adjudication.
  • Builds relationships with principal investigators and thought leaders to incorporate emerging science into clinical development.
  • Maintains deep medical knowledge of the disease area, including etiology, diagnosis, and treatment, through continuous learning and conference attendance.
  • Stays informed on competitive drug development and regulatory trends to position the company’s portfolio effectively.
  • Delivers medical education in partnership with Global Clinical Scientists to support study teams and investigators.
  • Participates in Health Authority interactions and advisory board meetings as a Global Clinical Physician.
  • Drafts clinical content for CSRs, regulatory reports, briefing books, and submission documents in collaboration with Global Clinical Scientists.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of industry or clinical trials experience required.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills in scientific and clinical environments.
  • Strong understanding of the scientific method, including statistical design, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with the drug development process and components needed for effective clinical plans and protocols.
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience working effectively in team settings.
  • May require domestic and international travel.

Nice to have

  • Subspecialty training in the relevant therapeutic area is preferred.
