International Therapeutic Area Head (iTAH)

Bristol Myers Squibb Celgene seeks a Senior Director for the International Therapeutic Area Head role in Boudry, CH. This hybrid position leads medical strategy across international markets.

This newly established Senior Director position provides overarching strategic leadership for the therapeutic area. The role acts as the primary counterpart to Global VP and TA Heads for international markets, enabling Regional Medical Leads across Europe, APAC, and INTERCON to fulfill their mandates effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage the medical strategy for the therapeutic area across the entire asset lifecycle in international markets.
• Convert global therapeutic area strategies into actionable guidance for Regional Medical Leads and Regional Medical Executive Leads.
• Offer strategic oversight and direction to medical leads in Europe, APAC, and ICON regions.
• Collaborate with regional medical heads to provide scientific leadership and align regional goals with therapeutic area objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the therapeutic area team while establishing a robust succession plan.
• Establish and manage senior external partnerships with thought leaders, academic institutions, and healthcare stakeholders.
• Serve as the key medical liaison connecting International Medical, Global TA, Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Development, and Regulatory teams.

Requirements

• Senior medical leader holding an advanced scientific or medical degree.
• Over 15 years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry.
• Deep understanding of at least one region or key country within the BMS portfolio.
• Familiarity with Research and Drug Development processes, including Real-World Evidence (RWE).
• Proven experience in program and project management.
• Track record of delivering results and leading strategically within a matrix organization.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as PharmD, PhD, or MD.
• Broad knowledge of the therapeutic area.
