Lonza in Visp seeks an EI&C MES Application Manager (80-100%, full-time, onsite) to lead MES projects, optimize standards, and ensure GMP-compliant system performance across the full lifecycle.
This role supports the Engineering team in Visp by guiding the MES landscape through every lifecycle stage. The position focuses on shaping digital manufacturing through project leadership, strengthening system standards, and maintaining high-performance, GMP-compliant operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead MES initiatives from initial analysis and design through testing and deployment.
- Maintain and refine MES standards to ensure consistency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with site and global policies.
- Oversee reliable MES system operation, enhancements, and updates, acknowledging their direct effect on production and GMP documentation.
- Partner with Operations, QA, Automation, and IT/OT groups to secure smooth integration and high availability.
- Review and enhance MES workflows to find digitalization opportunities, boost efficiency, and improve data integrity.
- Manage external vendors and partners supporting MES or OT project and support tasks.
- Guarantee GMP-compliant execution of MES and OT activities, covering documentation, change control, and validation readiness.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Industrial IT/OT, Automation Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor or higher).
- Substantial professional background in IT/OT, MES, or automation engineering within regulated settings.
- Solid grasp of GMP requirements and hands-on experience with validated production or automation systems.
- Ownership of the MES lifecycle, encompassing system operation, enhancements, release management, and interface coordination.
- Deep familiarity with OT networks, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware), system architectures, and foundational cybersecurity concepts.
- Fluency in German or English (minimum B2 level) for effective collaboration with local and global stakeholders.
- Structured, independent work approach combined with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duty (Pikettdienst) 2-3 times per year.
