Embedded Software Development Engineer (Linux)

Global Clearance Solutions AG seeks a Mid-level Embedded Software Development Engineer (Linux) for an on-site role in Zürich. The position focuses on designing Linux-based embedded systems, optimizing SoC applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This position plays a key part in advancing the company's global operations by building and refining embedded software solutions. The engineer will work directly on system-level development, ensuring that new technologies are integrated effectively to support the organization's long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and support embedded software solutions built on Linux platforms.
• Build and refine applications tailored to System-on-Chip (SoC) hardware.
• Establish and maintain clear, scalable, and thoroughly documented application programming interfaces.
• Work alongside teams to build web-based graphical user interfaces for monitoring and controlling systems.
• Connect software components with physical hardware to verify overall system performance.
• Identify and resolve bugs, optimize system speed, and troubleshoot complex embedded issues.
• Review code contributions to uphold high standards of quality and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with hardware engineers, system specialists, and product managers to align development efforts.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate a solid background in embedded software engineering.
• Possess advanced proficiency in C and C++ programming.
• Show strong familiarity with Linux environments, including kernel and user-space development.
• Have hands-on experience with SoC architectures and low-level hardware interactions.
• Proven ability to design and implement robust APIs.
• Understand network protocols and embedded communication standards.
• Be comfortable using web technologies such as REST APIs, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for interface development.
• Exhibit sharp problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Communicate fluently in English.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in programming languages other than C and C++.
• German language capabilities.
• Background in wireless communication or signal processing.
• Understanding of real-time operating systems and embedded security practices.
• Experience with build systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) workflows.
